Let me let you into my world.

As you know, my name is Brandon Banner. I am 23 years old, and a recent graduate from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. I graduated with a degree in Computer Science. I am trying to break into the UX/UI design world. I have recently completed a Product Design Internship at RadicalX have always been fascinated with the way things are designed, from specfic details such as color and shapes, to overall aesthetic. Design has always been a part of my life, and now it's going to become an even bigger one.

Whenever I see a design,

I always wonder...

Who

was this designed for?

Who

was the intention?

How

much of an impact does this design have on those who use it?

Now, down to the details.

As I mentioned earlier, I'm a recent graduate from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro where I received a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. Although I learned a lot of different things, one thing that always got me excited to go to class was UX/UI. From the first day of my Human Computer Interaction (HCI) class, I knew this was the field for me. I was diligent, meticulous, and passionate about all things UX/UI, and even more so now.

I would describe my design style as clean and modern, but with lots of attention to detail. It's all in the details that really make a design come together. That loading slider being the accent color or having text roll in from the bottom. You know? It's the little things in life.

Although my design style is clean and modern, that's not where my style ends. I believe in being versatile and meeting the needs of the customer. Collaboration can truly be a beautiful thing, a little of this, and a little of that, and boom you've got a hit. Not to mention, the intent behind a design is everything. Although some good things happen by accident, design should be intentional. Design with the customer in mind, and cater to what they need and want out of a product. When customers use the product and they not only love how it looks, but how it works because they feel it was made just for them. That's a job well done.

I am actively learning new skills so that I can improve and build my skillset. I may not be a pro yet, but I'm on my way. There's always more to learn.

August 2022 - November 2022

I was placed into a team of 15 other members, with the task to design a career quiz for their platform. My team and I had to create the questions as well as the UI. Through this internship, I learned so much and I am extremely proud of the work we did.

User Experience for Web Design

LinkedIn Learning

March 2023

The course taught me how to apply some simple interaction design principles to your site to make it behave in the way that users expect and enjoy. It covers the key things people want from web sites, how they search for information, how they read online, and how to structure your content to take advantage of this. It showed me how to use graphics to help rather than hinder visitors, how to integrate video, audio, and other media, and when to consider interactive rather than static content. Additionally viewing your site through your user's eyes.
